Come downtown Phoenix Friday night for the Collector's Reception of Expressions of the Soul - 5 Artists' Views from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Valley artists Joan Yen (mixed media), Annie Lopez (cyanotypes), Mitra Kamali (paintings), Wendy Willis (prints), and Michelle Peacock (fiber) collaborate in a five-woman exhibition expressing the human condition through diversity and commonality.
"In the great diversity of our ever-growing global world, we may look racially different and be raised in differing cultures, but down deep, we are all touched by the same human emotions. Yet as individuals, the human spirit yearns to express its concerns in diverse methods that are the most fitting and appropriate for the individual. We are each reflections of a larger part of the vast human soul."
The Just Society Film Festival - Civil Discourse through Film
Closing Festival Feature: "Somewhere near Tapachula," an inspiring story of love, life and hope. Set in Tapachula, Mexico, this documentary looks at the horrific childhoods of 54 children, their new life at Mision Mexico, and the exciting future of following their dreams. It also focuses on the unique surf community that they have pioneered in Tapachula, a coastal city with no other wave riders. To these kids the ocean is not just a place of fun, its an escape from what life used to be.
